Joe Biden says Queen was ‘more than a monarch’ and orders flags to be flown at half staff

Thursday afternoon, Delawarean Joe Biden paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, lauding the stability and consistency she offered to Britain and the rest of the world.

And he stated that he was prepared to strengthen his connection with King Charles, who will now ascend to the British throne.

Biden remarked, “In a world of continual change, she was a consistent presence and a source of comfort and pride for generations of Britons, including many who had never known their nation without her.”

An abiding admiration for Queen Elizabeth II brought together citizens of the Commonwealth.

Biden, who first met the Queen in 1982 as a senator, was reportedly informed of her passing during an Oval Office meeting.

Queen Elizabeth II was a stateswoman of unparalleled dignity and steadfastness who strengthened the United Kingdom’s connection with the United States.

He stated, “She helped make our connection unique.”

The White House reported that President Joe Biden has met the Queen three times, most recently in 2021 for tea at Windsor Castle with first wife Jilly Biden.

During that journey to the United Kingdom, the Bidens met the Queen in Cornwall at a G7 event. The president stated that he first met the Queen as a senator in 1982.

Biden was set to speak at the White House about COVID-19 vaccines.

However, the event was canceled shortly after Buckingham Palace announced the death of the Queen.

It indicates that Biden will continue his friendship with Charles.

Last year, they met in Glasgow on the fringes of a major United Nations climate summit, where they bonded over their common environmental concern.

Biden stated, “In the coming years, we look forward to maintaining a close connection with The King and The Queen Consort.”

‘Today, the thoughts and prayers of people all throughout the United States are with the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth in their sadness.

We extend our sincere condolences to the Royal Family, who are mourning not just their Queen but also their cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Her legacy will be monumental in the annals of British history and in the annals of our world.

Biden’s most recent meeting with the Queen occurred during a G7 summit in the United Kingdom last year.

After the conclusion of the summit, the Bidens traveled to Windsor Castle for a private visit with the Queen, complete with inspection of an honor guard and afternoon tea.

The president narrowly avoided violating royal protocol. At one point, as he joined the Queen on a dias to observe the Royal salute, he appeared to go for her arm before restraining himself.

On Thursday, as news broke, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was at the podium.
