Rivers Governor praises Lagos for empowering women

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, may have created a new standard for political behavior in the country by publicly endorsing the opponent in a race when his party is fielding a candidate.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor named Wike publicly endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term as governor of Lagos on Tuesday.

The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials hosted the 22nd National Women’s Conference where it occurred (COWLSO). The “Spring Forth, Stand Out” event took place at the Eko Hotels & Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ayo Fayose, a different PDP official and the former governor of Ekiti State, joined Wike at the function.

The Rivers helmsman gave Sanwo-Olu an excellent performance rating and said that the Lagos Governor has improved government by delivering high-quality projects across Lagos.

Any political party running against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, according to Wike, would be wasting their time because Sanwo-Olu will outperform any opposition.

The governor of Rivers State said that he had no remorse for publicly backing Sanwo-Olu and emphasized that his support for his Lagos colleague came from a personal belief in good administration.

Even if Sanwo-Olu is a member of my party, Wike said, “I would not come here if he is not doing (good).” You won’t see me if you are a member of my party and you are doing poorly in governance.

You will see me if you are successful and don’t belong to my party. My guiding principle is good governance. I have no qualms about stating that I endorse Sanwo-Olu for a second term. People shouldn’t squander their time.

“Take a look at the project that this women’s group is working on. Why wouldn’t a sane individual support the government that is promoting this? Let’s also consider the kind of physical infrastructure Lagos is providing.

This demonstrates that Lagos is an excellent state. Some individuals are going to arrive, but instead of helping Lagos keep becoming better, they’re going to ruin it. No matter to whatever party Sanwo-Olu belongs, I am happy with what he has accomplished.

In response to Wike’s support, Sanwo-Olu said that it was another another instance of “politics without bitterness.” In terms of projects and development, he said Lagos and Rivers states have learned from one another, and he added that both states will continue to work together on common interests.

“The industrious Governor Wike of Rivers State is the only person who is qualified to be a guest speaker at the conference,” he remarked. He was sent here by us so he could share his experience and see what we are up to in Lagos.

“We are promoting cooperation without resentment and without bringing up our political or party affiliations. It doesn’t matter where you belong if you’re happy.

Peer review should be encouraged between parties. I’d already accepted Gov. Wike’s invitation to Rivers for the launching of projects. We have successfully pushed ourselves, which is beneficial for the development of our politics and of the country.

Gov. Wike also discussed the characteristics that the future leader must possess, adding that Nigeria needed a leader who will put the country’s citizens’ interests first.

He asked Nigerians to put themselves in line behind someone with extensive expertise in government who is able to revive the economy and deal with insecurity.

We need a president who can put food on the table for everyone and combat insecurity, according to Wike. He or she must also have the necessary skills and expertise in governing. Not some folks who are discussing ethnicity, but that person is who we are searching for.

The Rivers Governor emphasized that Lagos had set the standards for how to empower women for growth and development and that he would be returning home with lessons learned from the National Women’s Conference there. To further advance women’s empowerment in Rivers State, he pledged to implement the concept elsewhere.
