Rising death toll in N1 accident

Ten people have now died as a result of the horrible truck and SUV collision on the N1 bypass in Polokwane, Limpopo.

The tenth victim passed away from his injuries in a hospital on Tuesday, September 6, according to Tidimalo Chuene, a spokeswoman for the Department of Transport.

It was earlier stated that all nine of the confirmed fatalities and the two patients who were taken to the hospital were SUV passengers.

Following a car collision on Tuesday morning near Polokwane’s Mall of the North’s N1 bypass, nine persons, including two children, were regrettably determined to be deceased.

According to reports, the SUV’s driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a truck; weariness is being investigated as a potential contributing factor.

For the duration of their arrival, law enforcement officials and emergency services required the temporary closure of the route.

Polly Boshielo, the MEC for Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo, issued letters of sympathy to the grieving families.

“We ask God to give the grieving families the courage they need to get through this difficult time. Hospital patients are also on our minds, and we hope they fully recover.

In order for drivers to reach their destinations alive, Boshielo stated, “we continue to encourage them to always observe the regulations of the road.”
