Rishi Sunak faces MPs as British citizens continue to be evacuated from Sudan

…By Henry George for TDPel Media.

The ongoing situation in Sudan continues to raise concerns, as British citizens trapped in the war-torn country struggle to find a way out.

Hundreds of Britons have already been evacuated, and more rescue missions are planned, including the arrival of a warship off the coast of Sudan.

The UK Government has come under fire for its slow response to rescuing its citizens, with many criticising the prioritisation of diplomats over other British nationals.

During Prime Minister’s Questions, Rishi Sunak faced scrutiny from MPs over the Government’s handling of the Sudan crisis.

Meanwhile, Home Secretary Suella Braverman was criticised for calling small boat migrants “criminals” and for suggesting their values were “at odds” with those of the UK.

She also claimed that the UK has a “larger cohort of British nationals in Sudan compared to many other countries”.

As the Government’s Illegal Migration Bill faced its final hurdle in the House of Commons, Braverman faced further criticism for her comments on small boat migrants.

However, she also reported that between 200 and 300 British nationals had already been evacuated from Sudan, with further flights planned.

The situation in Sudan remains a cause for concern, and the UK Government is under pressure to ensure the safe evacuation of all British citizens trapped in the country.
