A little youngster was killed in a suburban backyard fire caused by an explosion that occurred while he and his father were preparing dinner.

Saturday evening at 6 o’clock, a fire broke out in a house on Belle Vue Avenue in Ringwood, Melbourne, killing three-year-old Roland Sakhawang.

Firefighters were dispatched to the horrifying sight where a shed was engulfed in flames, but the toddler’s death was not discovered until after the blaze was doused.

The family is a member of the Burmese community in Melbourne, with numerous relatives, friends, and church members visiting on Sundays.

Saturday evening at 6pm, a fire broke out at a residence on Belle Vue Avenue in Ringwood, Melbourne. Three-year-old Roland Sakhawang was killed.

Jimmy Zathang, a church elder, reported that the two were making a lunch while other family members attended a Croydon church service.

They started a fire… The father entered the home to retrieve the beef. Upon entering the bathroom, he witnessed a flash of light through the window.

He described Roland as a cheerful, lively, and charming boy.

The explosion drew neighbors to the street, where they observed a column of smoke rising from the backyard.

“Many people attempted to assist. People strolling their dogs and other neighbors rushing in with hoses, according to one resident.

A neighbor across the street reported seeing the wife and the boy’s siblings return home and then hearing crying.

Victoria Police reports that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly fire is underway.
