Rich list: owner of Sundowns featured with Jay-Z, Oprah, and Rihana

Patrice Motsepe, owner of Mamelodi Sundowns, has found himself in the company of global entertainment heavyweights. In a Complex Magazine Black History Month piece, a business founded in Pretoria ranked among the top Black millionaires.

According to a report by Complex, posted by Soccer Laduma, Motsepe is one of just two Africans to make the list, thanks to his mining venture African Rainbow Minerals.

The 61-year-old, who resigned as chairman of Sundowns to become president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 2021, is the third wealthiest man in South Africa behind Johann Rupert and Nicky Oppenheimer.

According to the study, Motsepe is worth a stunning $2.9 billion (over R49.7 billion).
