Reports that Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic signs for Royal AM denied

Speculation that Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic has signed for Royal AM went into overdrive on Thursday – but the player’s agent vehemently denied that the forward is on his way out of Naturena.

What is a fact, however, is that Nurkovic is in the last month of his Amakhosi contract and yet to be offered an extension by the club, although there is a clause in his deal that the Glamour Boys can trigger the one-year option.

A report in local media on Thursday suggested the Serbian goal ace, who joined Chiefs in 2019 under then coach Ernst Middendorp, would be leaving at the end of the current season and heading to Durban.

“This is not true,” said Dajan Simac, who is Nurkovic’s long time representative.

“Of course, there has been a lot of interest in Samir, but he is still a Chiefs player and we are talking to the club about the future. I don’t know anything about the rumours that he will be joining Royal AM.”

Nurkovic scored 14 goals in 31 games from his maiden season at Naturena, making him the team’s top marksman and guaranteeing he would be a key player.

Goals did dry up the next season because of injury with Gavin Hunt taking over, and the same in campaign that is just about to finish under Stuart Baxter and then his interim replacement Arthur Zwane.

There has been interest from North Africa in the player, but his agent is now on the record saying the striker has not signed for Royal AM.
