Rep. Tom Reed of New York resigns after being accused of abusing a lobbyist

Congressman Tom Reed of New York is stepping down, more than seven months before his tenure ends.

Reed, 50, announced last year that he will not seek reelection after lobbyist Nicolette Davis accused him of sexual misconduct in March 2021.

Reed abruptly announced his resignation on the floor of the House on Tuesday.
