Rep. Kevin Brady stated on Sunday that troubled Rep-elect George Santos must take “major efforts” to recover the public’s trust; nevertheless, he refrained from stating whether the Long Island Republican should quit.

On “Fox News Sunday,” Brady (R-Texas) stated, “If he wants to reclaim the trust and respect of his constituents, he needs to take significant action.”

Gillian Turner, noting the silence of prominent House Republicans over the charges against Santos, who was elected on November 8, questioned whether Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy ought to criticize him.

“This is problematic in numerous ways. Certainly, he has lied numerous times. In the end, though, whether he resigns or stays is a decision that must be made between him and the voters who elected him,” Brady answered, adding that Santos must consider quitting.

During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Republican Rep. Kevin Brady stated that Rep.-elect George Santos must take “major efforts” to recover trust.

Brady, who is leaving from Congress after 26 years of service, stated that Santos has two alternatives.

George Santos, the incoming representative, has revealed to The Post that he invented numerous parts of his past.

“This is a serious problem. We live in a land of second chances. And when individuals are willing to turn their lives around, accept responsibility, and do whatever it takes to regain respect and trust, we are willing to do the same. “I hope he makes the right decision here,” Brady remarked.

The New York Times reported last month that Santos, who was elected to represent the 3rd District in Long Island and Queens, lied during his campaign about his career, schooling, family history, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs.

Then, on December 26, Santos shockingly confessed to The Post that he had fabricated entire sections of his resume, but said he should be allowed to complete his two-year tenure in Congress.

“I am not a criminal,” Santos said in an exclusive interview with The Post. “This [controversy] won’t prevent me from achieving legislative victory. I will be successful. I will be excellent.”

Santos, age 34, is scheduled to be sworn into the Republican-controlled House on Tuesday.

Since Santos revealed to The Post that he fabricated background information, fresh charges have surfaced, including whether his mother died on 9/11 as he claimed and how his congressional campaign spent contributor funds.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York are investigating Santos.
