Veteran Nollywood actress Sidikat Odukanwi, popularly known as Iyabo Oko, has passed away.
The renowned Yoruba actress died on the evening of June 29th, 2023.
Having been absent from the movie industry for several years, Iyabo Oko had been battling with ill health, which ultimately led to her untimely demise.
Although specific details about her death have not been disclosed, her junior colleague confirmed the sad news.
In a now-deleted post on Instagram, Foluke Daramola bid farewell to the veteran actress, acknowledging that they did their best but that God knows best.
Confirmation of Iyabo Oko’s Death by Her Daughter
Bisi Aisha, the daughter of Sidikat Odukanwi, also confirmed the news of her mother’s passing.
She expressed her desire for her mother’s soul to rest in peace.
This loss comes only a few weeks after the death of Murphy Afolabi, another colleague of Iyabo Oko.
The Passing of Actor Murphy Afolabi
Yoruba actor Murphy Afolabi was confirmed dead on Sunday, May 16th.
Tunde Ola Yusuf, a fellow actor, shared the news on his Instagram page and bid farewell to his departed friend, praying for his soul to rest in peace.
It was revealed that Murphy Afolabi slipped on tiles and suffered a severe head injury, which led to his death.
Seun Oloketuyi, another colleague, shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram page, explaining that the actor passed away after sustaining injuries from the fall in his bathroom.
Alhaji Baraka’s Revelation on Murphy Afolabi’s Death
During Murphy Afolabi’s funeral, Alhaji Oluwole Cole, also known as Baraka, made a surprising revelation about the circumstances of the actor’s death.
In an interview at the burial, Baraka disclosed that the tiles in Murphy Afolabi’s bathroom were not the cause of his slip.
He claimed that Murphy fell due to dizziness, which ultimately led to his untimely demise.
Baraka further explained that a few days before his death, Murphy had complained of weakness while running errands at a birthday party.
He had also suffered from malaria for a couple of days prior to his passing.
On the day of his death, Murphy had called a nurse for treatment and had consumed pap before going to the bathroom, where he experienced dizziness and slipped.
The talented actor has since been laid to rest.
