REMINDER: Here’s when you may receive your January SASSA grant

Grant recipients of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) can begin receiving payments on January 3, 2023.

SASSA GRANT JANUARY PAYMENT DATES
The elderly and their accompanying grants will be paid first, followed by grants for people with disabilities and grants for children on the following dates:

Senior citizens – Tuesday, January 3

Grants for the disabled – Wednesday, January 4

Grants for children – Thursday, January 5

As previously reported, SASSA said in 2022 that it had received beneficiary concerns regarding the prior payment schedule and decided to implement a change.

If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or national holiday, the payment will be made on the next business day, according to SASSA. The elderly and their accompanying grants are paid first, followed by grants for the disabled and children.

Following a system malfunction in November and December 2022, Postbank urged recipients of social grants to withdraw their funds from retail locations that offer cashback functionality, such as Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick & Pay, and Boxer.
