On Tuesday, 14 February, five suspects are scheduled to appear before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court after being nabbed with R5 million worth of allegedly stolen copper.

Sunday, February 12th, the suspects were captured at a store on Joule Street in Pinetown.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS), said that the team acted on information when they stormed the building and executed a search warrant.

Netshiunda said that huge quantities of copper wires were discovered concealed in two trucks parked in the yard. A further search of the storeroom led to the discovery of more copper.
