Queen Elizabeth II has written letters with a woman in Park River, North Dakota, whom she has never met in person, for the past seventy years.
Adele Hankey, 96, was born on April 21, 1926, the same day as the late Queen of England, according to KFYR.
The first letter was sent by Hankey in 1953, when Elizabeth was crowned. Since then, the late Queen reportedly sends Hankey handwritten birthday letters annually, making it a birthday ritual.
Hankey told the newspaper, “I could have jumped out of my shoes.” “I requested a hat from her. I hoped she would send one to me. However, she sent a beautiful photograph on her birthday.”
According to Hankey, the two had never met but had a passion for cooking.
“The queen preferred recipes using marmalade. And so do I. What do you think?” Hankey said.
Hankey told the newspaper that she will miss communicating with the late Queen of England, her close friend.
