NATO has informed its members that Vladimir Putin may have deployed a massive nuclear submarine carrying its newest doomsday weapon.
The Belgorod has vanished from its home base in the Arctic Circle and may be en route to the Kara Sea to test the Poseidon nuclear weapon, according to a NATO warning note released to Italian media over the weekend.
Poseidon is a drone that is rumored to be capable of traversing vast underwater distances before detonating with sufficient force to unleash a 1,600-foot nuclear tsunami designed to inundate and irradiate coastal communities.
The Belgorod, a 600-foot-long Russian nuclear submarine capable of carrying the Poseidon nuclear missile, has departed its White Sea base, according to a NATO warning notice.
Poseidon is a submerged drone that, according to Russia, is capable of causing 1,600-foot nuclear tsunamis intended to inundate and irradiate coastal communities.
If the test occurs, it will be Putin’s latest attempt to terrify the West over his losing war in Ukraine, after he was suspected of directing covert strikes on the Nord Stream pipelines last week.
The Belgorod was proposed as a contender for the sabotage operation due to the fact that it is equipped with mini-subs meant to strike underwater infrastructure.
At 200 meters in length, the submarine is one of the largest in the world, and it would have been exceedingly difficult for it to enter the Baltic Sea undetected.
It is also unknown whether the Belgorod could have traveled from its home base in the White Sea to the Baltic, a distance of around 3,000 miles, without being noticed.
Since then, NATO has alerted allies that the sub has vanished from its base, although it is still believed to be operating in the Arctic.
It is unclear exactly when the warning was issued, but the Italian newspaper La Repubblica first reported it on Sunday.
Since July, the submarine Belgorod has been operational.
Poseidon, one of four weapons of the next generation announced by Putin in 2018, is believed to have been active since then.

According to Russian media, it can cruise up to 6,000 miles underwater before releasing a nuclear warhead with a force of two megatons, which is more than 130 times the amount of the bomb unleashed on Hiroshima.
This would generate a 1,600-foot-tall irradiated wave aimed to submerge coastal cities and leave them a nuclear wasteland.
Due to international restrictions on testing nuclear weapons, the warhead has never been put to the test.
Russia’s violation of these treaties by testing Poseidon, even in the Arctic’s remote waters, would be extremely provocative.
Putin has been hampered by Western arms supply as he threatens to use nuclear weapons in the Ukraine conflict. The news of a prospective test comes amid Russian threats to deploy nuclear weapons in the conflict.
The Belgorod may remain submerged for up to one hundred twenty days.
TASS has previously stated that the Poseidon drone has an unlimited range and a top speed of almost 125 miles per hour.
Admiral Igor Katasonov, chief analyst of the General Staff, remarked, “Unique qualities of the Poseidon system would enable the Navy to successfully engage aircraft carriers and strike groups of a possible opponent in any maritime theater of conflict and destroy shore infrastructure installations.”
Vladimir Putin has threatened the West with nuclear weapons over Ukraine, a week after Russia annexed four partially-occupied areas.
Expert H I Sutton was quoted in La Repblica as saying, “It is an entirely new form of weapon that will force Western fleets to rethink their planning and devise new countermeasures.”

Putin and a key executive in Moscow’s strong state media propaganda machine closely monitored Kiselyov as he stated that Russia could unleash its Satan-2-designated Big Beast Sarmat hypersonic missile against the United Kingdom.
In May, though, he warned viewers that the Russian underwater robotic drone Poseidon was another option for submerging Britain.
It approaches the target at a depth of one kilometer at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour [125 miles per hour].
It is impossible to stop this underwater drone.
It possesses a warhead with a maximum yield of 100 megatons.
“The explosion of this thermonuclear torpedo near to the beaches of the United Kingdom will generate a 500-meter-high tsunami.”
This tsunami is also a carrier of extraordinarily high radiation doses.
“As it passes over the United Kingdom, it will likely transform what is left of the country into a radioactive wasteland.”
