The prominent researcher John Paul Leach was criticized for displaying a ‘feminine brain’
Former comedian demonstrated that there is “no difference in real life” between men and women.

Mr. Leach also demonstrated the’male brain’ with a Homer Simpson cartoon.

Feminists stated that it went “far beyond banter” because he is now under investigation.

A distinguished neuroscientist and lecturer has apologized for showing pupils a caricature of the “female brain” that included a “I told you so gland” and a “impulse shopping” portion.

Professor John Paul Leach, a former stand-up comedian who has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, stated that the purpose of displaying the contentious image was to demonstrate that there is “no difference in real life” between the sexes.

He also acknowledged that, before to displaying the cartoons, he did indeed display genuine diagrams of the male and female brains.

However, Mr. Leach, the chair of undergraduate medicine at the University of Glasgow, provoked a number of complaints from students as well as Scottish feminists who argued that his remarks went “far beyond jest.”

Now, he is being investigated for the 2017 cartoons.

The professor, who is also a neurologist at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, used a Homer Simpson cartoon to illustrate the’male brain,’ which included’sleep,’ ‘donuts,’ and’sex.’

However, the ‘female brain’ cartoon garnered much criticism as it contained smaller labels such as ‘driving skills,”sex-initiation gland,’ and’realization of wants against necessities.’

Larger portions of the brain were designated as the “gossip control centre,” “shoes,” and “shiny objects and jewels olfactory.”

Olfactory refers to the nerve that facilitates the perception of smell.

The primary portion of the ‘female brain’ was also depicted as the ‘headache generator,’ alongside a large shape that read “talk, talk, and talk some more.”

Feminists and students criticized the figure (shown) produced by Professor John Leach to illustrate the ‘female brain,’ which includes elements such as ‘gold-digging’ and a’sex initiator gland.’

The eminent neuroscientist John Leach (pictured) said that he was attempting to demonstrate that “there is no difference between male and female brains in actual life.”

Below the diagram, a footnote stated, “The ‘put oil in the car’ and ‘be quiet during the game’ glands are only active when the’shiny objects and jewels’ olfactory is satisfied or there is a shoe sale.

Professor Leach reflected on the incident and said, “In 2017 I apologized personally and fully for its usage and for any hurt it may have caused, and I do the same today.”

I can confirm that the original slide depicted both male and female brains.

This was supposed to demonstrate in the neuroanatomy lesson that there is no difference between male and female brains in real life.

The university in Granite City is currently evaluating the results of an internal investigation that is thought to be related to charges of discriminatory behavior towards female academics in the medical school.

The lecturer used a Homer Simpson cartoon to illustrate the’male brain’ with words like’sleep,’ ‘donuts,’ and’sex.

Feminists were outraged by the professor’s display of the schematics; a spokesman for the Scottish Feminism Network said, ‘How can female students expect to be treated with respect by their classmates or professors if this is acceptable?’

This exceeds the definition of ‘banter’ and might severely damage the confidence of the female students.

This is deceptive and can have grave long-term repercussions.

The university recruited Morag Ross, QC, in January to conduct a review of its strategy to combating gender-based violence, including harassment and harmful behaviors “committed disproportionately by men against women.”

Staff and students have been interviewed, and the findings will be published in the coming weeks.

A university spokesperson stated, “The University of Glasgow condemns all forms of prejudice and is committed to promoting equality and diversity throughout its community and campus.”

The institution takes all complaints seriously and conducts thorough investigations. We do not comment on specific cases.
