A prison worker at HMP Belmarsh, the UK’s most secure prison, has been suspended and arrested for allegedly engaging in a romantic relationship with Jordan McSweeney, a killer serving at least 38 years behind bars for the sexual assault and murder of Zara Aleena in London in 2022.
The unnamed 32-year-old woman worked in the prison’s workshop and is under investigation for misconduct in public office.
The Prison Service declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
A Dangerous Inmate
McSweeney is regarded as one of the most dangerous prisoners in the UK, with 28 convictions for 69 crimes, including racially motivated offences, burglary, and assaulting a police officer, dating back to 2006.
During the attack on Zara, he inflicted 46 separate injuries on her during a nine-minute beating.
He was labelled a “danger to any woman” and was only just released from prison prior to the murder.
