Prison officer breaks numerous laws to please Inmate

A female prison officer was charged with smuggling marijuana and a cell phone into jail for an inmate with whom she was having an illicit connection.

Joanne Hunter, age 27, has been charged with conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office for allegedly engaging in the affair while employed at HMP Forest Bank in Salford.

In December 2020, she is further charged with carrying or transporting an unauthorized mobile phone and cannabis into the prison.

Hunter, dressed in a black top and skirt, came before the Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court, where she was informed of her charges.

She just spoke to confirm her name, residence, and birth date, and no pleas were made.

Her parents sat in the public gallery when her charges were read aloud.

On March 23, Hunter, from Bury, Greater Manchester, is scheduled to appear at Manchester Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she worked as a jail officer from December 2018 to December 2020.

It also indicates that she graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with a bachelor’s degree in applied social and studies and a master’s degree in childcare and youth studies.
