A 38-year prison warder, M.C Bello working at Yolde-Pate Nigeria Correctional Centre, Adamawa State Command has raped a 13 years old girl.
The suspect was said to have on 1st February 2022 lured the girl who is mentally ill by offering her fifty naira (N50.00) to his apartment close to the Correctional Centre where he works and raped her.
The suspect is currently under investigation at the Adamawa State Criminal Investigation Department CID.
Contacted, the Spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the incident, adding that investigation has since commenced.
Commenting on the matter, Assistant Human Rights Desk Officer with the Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment Yola Mrs. Laila said the organization will follow the case to its logical conclusion so that the little girl will get justice.
She added that the survivor was taken to the Hope Centre for examination, where it was confirmed that forceful penetration had occurred.
According to her, the suspect has confessed to the crime, but pleaded for leniency, attributing it to devil work.
