Prince William’s throne chances

The royal line of succession determines the subsequent occupant of the British monarch.

After the Queen, the current line of succession is Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George.

An change to the royal succession law stipulates that the heir to the throne will be determined by the order of their birth.’

In light of recent concerns about the health of the 96-year-old Queen, people are curious about the royal line of succession.

It has raised questions such as how likely it is that Prince William will become king of England. The solution is relatively obvious, yet there is more to it than meets the eye.

Here is a brief explanation of the succession candidates following Queen Elizabeth II:

To determine who is next in line for the throne, one must adhere to the rules.

There are two routes a royal can take to ascend to the throne. According to Buckingham Palace, the succession to the British throne is determined by ancestry and government-enacted laws.

Parliamentary rules stipulate that descent, legitimacy, religion, and gender influence the succession to the British monarchy for anyone born after October 28, 2011.

The original law stipulated that the firstborn son had priority over other children. The new succession legislation stipulates that both male and female heirs to the kingdom would be determined by their birth order.

This indicates that in the future, girls like Princess Charlotte may be considered for the throne.

When Queen Elizabeth II abdicates or dies, Prince Charles will ascend the throne before Prince William. Charles is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II; therefore, he is first in line after the queen.

Prince William must wait his turn to ascend to the throne of England.

Robert Hazell, professor of government and the constitution at University College London, told Insider, “Prince Charles will inevitably become king upon the death of the Queen.” “William will virtually certainly see his father become king during his lifetime. Only if Charles dies before the Queen would William succeed her as monarch upon her passing.”

This means that Kate Middleton will become Queen of England if Prince William becomes King. The royal pair wed on April 29, 2011, in front of 1,900 guests at Westminster Abbey in an elaborate ceremony.

Hazell stated, “When William becomes king, Kate will become queen.” “The only thing preventing William from becoming king is his own untimely demise.”

Who is next in line? The individual is not Prince Harry. Buckingham Palace’s line of succession places the Duke of Sussex behind Prince William and Middleton’s children, so he will likely never ascend to the throne in his lifetime.

Prince George, the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, is next in line for the crown.

“If William died before Charles, then Prince George would become king upon the death of Charles,” Hazell added. Charlotte and Louis are the next in line of succession after George.

Prince Harry might become king of England only when William and Middleton’s children are disqualified from succession. Even though he is no longer a member of the royal family, he remains in the royal line of succession.

Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, his first-born son, is seventh in line to the throne.
