Prime Video’s Citadel, Explosive Action and Double-Crossing to Rival James Bond

…By Henry George for TDPel Media.

Citadel, the upcoming action thriller on Prime Video, is set to deliver explosions, double-crossing, and continent-hopping on a scale that could rival James Bond.

The show features two protagonists, both spies, who are battling bad guys and memory loss in their pursuit of the truth.

Richard Madden, best known as Robb Stark on Game of Thrones and David Budd in Bodyguard, plays one of the protagonists, Mason Kane.

Mason is a former Citadel agent whose memory was wiped when the agency fell eight years ago due to a mole named Manticore.

Stanley Tucci plays the role of Bernard Orlick, the director of the agency.

Recovering Past Memories and Exploring Character Traits

Mason must attempt to recover his past memories throughout the series while flashbacks show the audience the kind of person he used to be.

Was it hard to play two versions of the same character?

Not at all, according to Madden. In fact, he found it a joy to explore different aspects of humanity and who we are as people.

In Bodyguard, Madden’s character was also suffering from PTSD, and he found it exciting to explore how character traits are built into someone and how much is inherited through trauma and experience.

Action-Packed and Star-Studded

Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays another former Citadel agent, Nadia.

The show’s “Creative Spymaster” and showrunner David Weil described the show as “very fast-paced” and “very sexy,” with great energy that moves quickly.

Weil further explained that the show is not just a Western point of view, and the story is viewed through different cultures in an authentic way.

Citadel is not destined for the big screen, but that has not stopped the creators from throwing the kitchen sink and then some at the show.

There are explosions, high-octane skiing sequences, and a train fight in the first episode, which might go down in history as one of television’s best.

The stunt team was incredible, according to Jonas.

Excitement in the Spy Genre

For Weil, the spy genre is exciting because it allows the viewer to step into the world of Citadel and feel like they, too, are an agent within it.

The show’s aim is to marry the epic action sequences with the relationship between Nadia and Mason.

With Citadel set to air on Prime Video from April 28, audiences will get to experience a new level of action-packed, double-crossing spy thriller.
