However, this endeavor may face challenges due to the presence of tenured positions.

Despite the difficulties, there are indications that the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has received approval from the Presidency to dissolve and reconstitute the managements and boards of these agencies and parastatals.
Political Lobbyists on Alert:
Reports suggest that the government’s decision to dissolve the boards has already raised the attention of political lobbyists who are preparing themselves for potential appointments if the dissolution occurs.
This development has created a sense of anticipation among those seeking influential roles in the federal parastatals.
Lack of Official Confirmation:
In a statement to ThisDay, the Director of Information at the OSGF, Willie Bassey, claimed to be unaware of any such presidential approval.
This lack of clarity adds further uncertainty to the situation.
Shaping the Agenda of President Tinubu:
The dissolution of these boards is expected to enable President Bola Tinubu to shape the agenda of his administration more effectively.
Senior civil servants interviewed by ThisDay noted that it would not be surprising for Tinubu to dissolve the boards of federal parastatals inherited from former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari’s Actions:
Sources reveal that President Buhari also dissolved and appointed new heads of governing boards for federal parastatals, agencies, and institutions during his tenure.
Notably, the boards of the six aviation agencies were constituted shortly before the end of his administration, following years of operation without boards.
Confirmation Delayed:
However, the appointments made by Buhari were not ratified by the ninth Senate due to its dissolution and the subsequent inauguration of a new government on May 29.
As a result, the confirmation of these appointments remains pending.
