During a recent episode of Saturday Kitchen, TikTok star Poppy O’Toole caused a stir amongst viewers after she accidentally used a swear word while being interviewed by host Matt Tebbutt.
Poppy was cooking for celebrity guest Alesha Dixon and discussing her career, which took off when she was let go from her job and started making potato-inspired posts on TikTok.
When asked about her rise to fame on the social media site, Poppy meant to say that she won her following “on a whim”, but accidentally used a similar-sounding word starting with ‘Q’ instead.
She used the word three times before Matt corrected her.
Matt quickly apologized to viewers for the language and promised to explain the meaning of the word to Poppy off-air. Poppy asked what the word meant, but Matt moved on with the show.
Later, he turned to the camera and offered his apologies to viewers, as reported by The Mirror.
Despite the incident, viewers found the situation amusing and took to Twitter to share their reactions. Some viewers joked about the mishap, with one saying it was the “best thing ever asked on Saturday morning TV.”
Others praised Poppy’s cluelessness about the situation and deemed it the “highlight of the year so far.”
