The police have been investigating potential links since September 2016, but have found evidence of digital devices and new witnesses that place Halliwell in Swindon at the time Lawrence vanished in York in March 2009.

The police confirmed that the investigations by both forces concluded that it was unlikely that Halliwell left the Wiltshire area or was present in North Yorkshire when Lawrence disappeared.

Halliwell is serving a life sentence after admitting to the murder of Becky Godden-Edwards, 20, in 2003, and Sian O’Callaghan, 22, in 2011.

However, he has been linked to several unsolved cases, and Lawrence’s mother has called on the police to question him about her daughter’s disappearance.

Claudia Lawrence went missing in 2009 from the Heworth area of York, and police believe that she was murdered, although her body has never been found.

The police have conducted two investigations and questioned nine people in relation to her disappearance and suspected murder, but no charges have ever been brought.

They believe her personal life is a key aspect of the case and have dismissed any links to Halliwell.

Joan Lawrence, Claudia’s mother, has been conducting her own investigation into her daughter’s disappearance and claims that there are three witnesses who can link Halliwell to North Yorkshire.

She also wants to see Halliwell’s “treasure trove” of items linked to his crimes, found in a lake in Ramsbury in 2014.

The items included the boots of one of his victim’s, a shotgun, and women’s clothing.

She has also urged police to see his drawings of beauty spots, hoping that she might spot something linked to her daughter.
