Crissy Outlaw, also known as Crissy Moran, started working in the porn industry in 1999 and starred in over 50 adult films during her seven-year career, earning up to $15,000 a month.

However, she eventually left the industry in 2006 to become a devout Christian and encourages other sex workers to do the same.

Traumatic events and a desire for love led her to join the industry

Outlaw’s father was a strict Southern Baptist who urged her to remain a virgin until marriage.

After experiencing traumatic events, including abuse and abandonment, Outlaw turned to porn, believing it could bring her love.

However, during her time in the industry, she entered abusive relationships and even contemplated suicide.

The porn industry is a “lie”

Although porn presents an image of confident women who want to be there and fulfil sexual fantasies, Outlaw has described this as a “lie”.

She had to pretend to be someone else, look the part, and act interested in the scene, when, in reality, she was not.

During her time in the industry, Outlaw felt used and was in abusive relationships with men.

A sign from God led her to leave the industry

After a “nice” man she was dating went to a strip club while out of town, Outlaw realised that no matter how much she tried, she would never be enough.

She prayed to God for a sign, and the next day, while visiting her then-boyfriend, a man asked her if she believed in God.

She saw this as a sign from God that he loved her, and she left the industry for good.

Outlaw’s husband helped her find faith and showed her that not all men are abusive.

She now works with other women who have left the sex industry or have been victims of sex trafficking, and hopes that men will recognise that porn actresses are real people who have had painful experiences.

She has called on men to consider the harm the industry can cause to women.
