Police Report: Intoxicated guy shoots neighbour in backyard

Authorities in South Carolina said that a drunken neighbour shot at targets in his backyard and killed a lady who was watching out her kitchen window.

Luwan Kesha Lucille Tate, 42, was shot in the chest when she walked to a window of her Gaffney home to investigate after hearing numerous gunshots at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to a statement from Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler.

Family members informed news outlets that she passed away in her house with her children there but unharmed.

A few hours later, according to Cherokee County authorities, Nicholas Skylar Lucas, 30, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and shooting while intoxicated. Records did not indicate if he had a lawyer and he remained in custody on Tuesday.

For months, according to family members, Tate was concerned about shooting near her house. According to them, Lucas resided behind Tate in the area of roughly 30 houses that were pretty closely spaced apart.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller, “It is mind-boggling that a person believes it’s okay to target practise or discharge a pistol within close proximity to so many other houses in a community.”

If found guilty, Lucas may spend up to five years in jail for involuntary manslaughter and two years in jail for misdemeanour shooting while intoxicated.
