Police are seeking further information about the cause of a house fire that killed two people and injured one.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were alerted to a home fire in Camblesforth, near Selby, North Yorkshire soon after 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, with support from Humberside Fire and Rescue and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
Shortly before 7.30 a.m., the fire was brought under control, and firefighters are currently on the scene damping down and assuring scene safety.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue sent specialist crews to the scene to assist with the stabilization of the property and the subsequent investigation.
Despite the efforts of firefighters and a local resident to save their lives, two people died at the scene, according to North Yorkshire Police.
One person was able to flee the property and is currently being treated for his injuries.
There were no damages to neighboring properties.
As part of a collaborative investigation to investigate the cause of the fire, North Yorkshire police are encouraging individuals to come forward with any information that could aid with the investigation.
