Pirates rebuffed Sundowns’ late offer for a left-footed star – report

Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly rejected an offer from Orlando Pirates to sign Vincent Pule before the January transfer window closed.

The domestic transfer market slammed shut at midnight on Tuesday, with only Zakhele Lepasa confirmed to have departed Pirates.

According to Soccer Laduma, Sundowns made a late offer to sign Pule, and the two clubs did engage in conversations for days.

However, after thorough study, Pirates decided against selling the left-footed winger to Sundowns, according to the publication.

Furthermore, Pirates were reportedly originally amenable to the notion of selling Pule, as they sat down and considered Sundowns’ proposal.

“Soccer Laduma understands that the Chloorkop-based club inquired about the availability of the former Bidvest Wits talisman,” the publication reports. “However, after several days of discussions about the possibility of a transfer, the Buccaneers decided against selling one of their key assets in January.”

Pule is still under contract with Pirates; in fact, he is rumored to have signed a new long-term contract with the club, indicating that he remains vital to the organization.

The 30-year-old has not started many games for Pirates in recent months due to the emergence of Monnapule Saleng, but Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena is reportedly a fan.
