Sitting on the beach with a cold drink in hand is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a relaxing summer vacation. If you were to guess what drink most people would choose on a tropical vacation, what would it be? Naturally, one drink stands above all others: the piña colada. It’s from Puerto Rico in the Caribbean, and it’s a traditional combination of pineapple, rum, and cream. Cool down quickly with the help of the icy citrus drink and ice.
PIÑA COLADA COCKTAIL TIPS
Everything you need for this dish can be found in a can, so it’s quick to put together. If you like a sweeter drink, just add some of the pineapple juice that comes with the canned pineapple. In general, any white rum will do, but if you’re looking to really amp up the coconut flavour, Malibu is a great choice. Even at the pool, serve your guests in a poco grande glass and decorate with a pineapple slice and little cocktail umbrella.

PIÑA COLADA COCKTAIL RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

1 can pineapple (using the pineapple juice is optional)

2 cans coconut milk or cream of coconut

1½ cups coconut rum liqueur
METHOD
- Freeze 1 can of coconut cream/milk in ice cube trays for a more freeze effect.

- When the ice cubes are ready, get all your ingredients together and put it in a blender.

- Add as much as you need of each ingredient for the total of people you will be serving.
- If you want it to be sweeter, add some condensed milk or vanilla ice cream.
NOTES
- If you want a virgin Pina-Colada Mocktail you can follow the same instructions without adding the rum.
