Phumeza and Shota Mdabe’s four-part wedding special

When famous people declare they want the public to witness their wedding on television or through streaming services, you can bet it won’t be a lavish event.

Phumeza Mdabe, an actress and TV personality, and her husband, music producer Mnqobi “Shota” Mdabe, will soon join a long list of South African celebrities who have broadcast their weddings, including Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung, Dineo Moeketsi and Solo Langa, Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones.

On Heritage Day at 6 pm on Mzansi Magic, the four-part series “PS: I Love You, Phumeza and Shota’s Wedding Special” from the Mdabe will air (DStv channel 161).

The couple, who have been together for ten years, will take fans along on their trip as they go through the legalities of securing their marriage.

The series will follow the couple as they formally join their families through the rites of umembeso and umbondo, followed by a grandiose wedding with the crème de la crème of the entertainment business. The story spans provinces and features a young family at its center.

According to Shirley Adonisi, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net, “reality is one of the genres our viewers love the most, and while they enjoy the stories of everyday people being told on screen, our specials and shows that take us into the lives of public figures also fan favorites.”

“September marks the start of the South African wedding season, so it’s appropriate that we introduce a wedding special at this time.

“Phumeza and Shota are among the most private couples in SA, so it will be a treat for viewers to see them open up.”

The Mdabes will give viewers a close-up look into their lives, including their children, in the four-part series.

“We look at the relationship between the couple and their families, as well as their bond with one another.

Despite the fact that love is at its core, this program is also about cultural identity, overcoming obstacles, familial ties, and friendship.
