PDP Claims Senator’s Testimony Validates Allegations of Tinubu’s Drug Racketeering

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asserted that the testimony given by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Majority Leader, at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal supports their claim that the $460,000 forfeited by President Bola Tinubu is linked to drug racketeering.

Senator Bamidele, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Witness-in-Chief, stated last Wednesday that President Tinubu did not face any criminal charges in a US court.

He argued that the forfeiture order against the president for $460,000 was not a substitute for criminal charges as it pertained to a civil matter.

However, the PDP, in a statement released over the weekend, contends that Bamidele’s testimony further affirms before the Presidential Election Petition Court that Tinubu forfeited $460,000, which he obtained through drug trafficking in the United States.

The party also alleges that Bamidele cannot substantiate the figures declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the results of the 2023 presidential election in Kano State due to his absence from the state and the collation center on the election day.

The statement emphasizes that Bamidele’s testimony strengthens the claim that Bola Tinubu of the APC concealed his illicit earnings from drug trafficking in the US and failed to disclose them in his nomination forms submitted to INEC.

Although Bamidele argued that the $460,000 forfeiture was a civil matter, the PDP rejects this defense.

Furthermore, the PDP asserts that Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC secured only 19.5% of the votes in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), falling short of the 25% threshold stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution.

The party highlights those two previous presidents achieved the required 25% in Abuja, making Tinubu the first to be incorrectly declared without meeting the stipulated threshold.

Given the weight of the evidence presented to the court, the PDP urges the judiciary to uphold justice and declare their candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the rightful winner of the election.

The party emphasizes that the future of Nigeria is at stake, underscoring the significant role the judiciary has in ensuring justice is served.

According to the PDP, the judiciary holds a crucial responsibility in ensuring that justice is served, considering the future of Nigeria is at stake.

The main opposition party highlights the need for the judiciary to carefully examine the evidence presented and make a just decision that upholds the integrity of the electoral process.
