Passenger allegedly urinates on Bali-Brisbane flight

A passenger on a Bali-to-Brisbane flight pled guilty to exposing his penis and urinating on the plane’s floor as the descent began.

James Hughes, 72, was returning to the United States from an Indonesian vacation island on Wednesday afternoon when he exposed his penis and urinated on the floor while remaining seated.

The New Zealander had consumed multiple small bottles of wine prior to the incident, according to an Australian Federal Police statement.

After the plane landed, officers confronted him and issued him a notice of violation for disorderly conduct in public.

Hughes appeared before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty. He was given a one-year good behavior bond.

Superintendent Mark Colbran, the AFP Airport Police Commander at Brisbane Airport, condemned the New Zealander for his disgraceful behavior.

The AFP will not tolerate antisocial or illegal behavior in Australia’s airports, he said.

Families and other travelers have the right to feel safe. The AFP expects passengers to be responsible when consuming alcohol.
