Passenger dies in Warrego Highway collision near Brisbane

A passenger in one of the vehicles was killed in a two-car collision despite the efforts of two off-duty physicians who stopped to provide treatment.

Sunday around 10:40 p.m., two automobiles crashed on the Warrego Highway in Lawes, Queensland.

The driver and passenger of a crimson 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer car sustained significant injuries after colliding with a westbound 2022 Toyota Avalon sedan.

The female passenger of the Mitsubishi was pronounced dead at the site of the accident, while the male driver was evacuated to Princess Alexandra Hospital in serious condition.Doctors provided care to the occupants in both cars before paramedics arrived (stock image)A person has died following a two-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway (pictured) at Lawes in Queensland around 10:40pm on Sunday.

The female passenger of the Mitsubishi was pronounced dead at the site of the accident, while the male driver was evacuated to Princess Alexandra Hospital in serious condition.

Following the collision, the Warrego Highway was stopped for up to five hours as emergency personnel cleaned the scene.

The freeway reopened at around 4:00 a.m.

Police have asking anyone with dashcam evidence of the collision or who chance to drive by seconds before to come forward.
