Oscar-winning singer and actress Irene Cara passes away at age 63

Irene Cara, noted for singing the theme songs to “Fame” and “Flashdance,” passed away on Saturday, according to her publicist.

New York native Cara was 63 years old.

“It is with tremendous regret that I announce Irene Cara’s demise on behalf of her family,” said the statement put on Cara’s Twitter profile by her publicist, Judith A. Moose. In her Florida home, the Academy Award-winning actress, singer, composer, and producer passed suddenly.

Moose stated that the cause of death is unclear and funeral arrangements are pending.

Moose said, “She was a magnificently brilliant soul whose legacy will live on forever via her music and cinema.”

This is the worst aspect about working as a publicist. I cannot believe I’m writing this, much less releasing the news. Please share your recollections and thoughts about Irene. I will read each one with the knowledge that she will be beaming from Heaven. She cherished her followers. – JM image: https://twitter.com/TsC5BwZ3fh
