Orlando Pirates star Joseph ‘Duku Duku’ Makhanya set to return

Every Bucs fan will be familiar with an Orlando Pirates great who is about to make a huge and well-known comeback to Soweto!

We haven’t seen Joseph “Duku Duku” Makhanya play for the Pirates in more than ten years.

He was one of the Bucs’ top players when he departed, but he is now expected to come back. He is anticipated to return as a coach, not a player, though.

At the age of 40, Makhanya is being considered as one of the coaches.

He may become a coach for the DStv Diski Challenge, to be more exact. He will be in charge of identifying new up-and-coming talent, much like Reneilwe Letsholonyane did at the Chiefs.

Happy Jele, another legendary Buccaneer, was also offered a coaching position but declined it in favor of more playing time.

He will be responsible for nurturing fresh talent and advancing them through the ranks at the age of 40. Because Makhanya was a Pirates academy graduate as well, this fits perfectly.

Makhanya was guided by Augusto Palacios during the early 2000s. Where he came through the ranks and would later become a Bucs legend.

Hopefully he can identify some potential so that they too can develop into great Buccaneers players in the future.

According to SoccerLaduma, a statement on his formal homecoming is anticipated very soon.
