O’Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS) will invest $5.5 million to open a 130,000 square foot steel fabrication facility in Fayette as part of a project that will generate 70 full-time jobs within three years of operations beginning, according to an announcement made today by Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield.

For clients who make machinery for the construction, agricultural, material handling, transportation, and other industries, OMS offers high-quality carbon steel and aluminium parts.

In order to handle the production of medium- to heavy-gauge steel, the company’s custom steel fabrication facility in Fayette will have robotic and manual welding stations, a beam-cutting line, a wet paint booth, press brakes, plasma cutting, and saw cutting capabilities.

According to Secretary Canfield, “O’Neal Manufacturing Services’ investment will add cutting-edge capabilities to its new fabrication site in Fayette.

This is a good development for the neighbourhood in terms of future expansion possibilities as well as the production of jobs.

Important Asset

OMS is a division of O’Neal Industries, the largest family-owned network of metal service centres and component and tube manufacturing companies in the country, which has its headquarters in Birmingham.

The company now has ten locations across North America thanks to the new Fayette plant, which is housed in an existing structure.

“We are pleased to have bought the property, and we are even more thrilled to have the qualified employees who were available in Fayette,” the company said.

Our most precious resource has always been our people, according to OMS President and CEO Kent Brown.

“In this period of historically low unemployment and nationwide labour shortages, good people are even more in demand.

We appreciate the hard work of the City of Fayette, Fayette County, our state, and the Economic Development Alliance for helping us realise this new location, he continued.

Local Effects

“The rural areas of Alabama can provide businesses like OMS with a number of strategic benefits as well as a setting that encourages the pursuit of ambitious ambitions.”

The mayor of Fayette, Northam, applauded OMS’s ambitions for expansion in the tiny community in rural Northwest Alabama.

“With a more than a century-long presence in Alabama, we are pleased to welcome them to Fayette and continue this illustrious tradition.

We welcome their expansion and value their investment in our community and its residents, he said.

Recently, Fayette has been experiencing success, drawing numerous industrial projects and fresh investment to its downtown.

According to the Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance, manufacturing facilities employ over 30% of the workforce in the area.

“O’Neal Manufacturing Services’ decision to invest in Fayette has us thrilled and appreciative.

Tom Wisemiller, president and chief executive officer of Northwest Alabama EDA, praised OMS as an excellent business and employment with a proven track record of working with regional towns.

A motivated workforce in Fayette will be advantageous for O’Neal Manufacturing Services’ new endeavour, according to Brenda Tuck, Rural Development Manager for the Alabama Department of Commerce.

Rural Alabama may provide businesses like OMS with a number of strategic benefits as well as a setting that enables them to pursue ambitious goals, according to Tuck.

The business world is learning how great rural Alabama is.
