One dies in Carletonville shooting

On Thursday, July 28, in the early hours, a drive-by gunshot is said to have left four persons injured in Carletonville, Gauteng.

The shooting incident took place on Van Zyl Street in Carletonville, according to the emergency medical service ER24.

A spokeswoman stated, “ER24 and the Provincial EMS arrived at 9:13 to find the local authorities already in attendance.”

Paramedics arrived on the scene and discovered a patient laying in a little car with fatal injuries.

There was nothing that could be done because they had passed away from “their numerous gunshot wounds.”

They were pronounced dead there and then.

While Gauteng EMS cared for the other two patients, ER24 treated a woman for a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

After receiving treatment, the survivors were taken to a hospital for more care.

The paramedic service stated, “The precise circumstances surrounding this occurrence are unknown, however local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”

Unrelated to this incident, on Monday afternoon ER24 responded to a train and bakkie collision in the North West.

A 17-year-old girl and a 40-year-old man suffered critical injuries in the accident, which also claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl.
