One Amakhosi legend is likely to depart, while the other will almost probably remain!

Kaizer Chiefs revealed that they must make significant decisions over the future of their senior talents, including the last two Amakhosi legends still active.

According to SoccerLaduma, Jessica Motaung hinted at the likelihood of Amakhosi management dismissing senior players in January.

Therefore, we are aware that one or two club veterans will depart. Only two Amakhosi legends remain – Itumeleng Khune and Erick Mathoho – and one of them is set to leave Naturena…

The contract of club captain Khune will almost surely be extended. Moreover, before limping off against Stellenbosch FC on October 9, he was in excellent form, and he remains the most popular player in Mzansi.

Khune won the most votes in South Africa during the most recent Carling Black Label Cup, and he has the support of Arthur Zwane and the Amakhosi management as club captain. His leadership and expertise are crucial to this team, and he is expected to be a vital contributor for at least the remainder of this season and possibly many more.

The remaining Amakhosi legend is no longer favored by Zwane and Amakhosi management. He played against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup, but only because he has earned the admiration of fans over the past decade.

Since Zitha Kwinika, Siyabonga Ngezana, Edmilson Dove, and Njabulo Ngcobo are ahead of him in the pecking order, it is unlikely that he would see any playing time under Zwane.

Moreover, Amakhosi are seeking a new defense, which leads us to believe that Mathoho’s days with the club are likely numbered.

Motaung (Jessica) revealed that some of this team’s core players will be released in January, and Mathoho might very well be one of them.

“There are important decisions to be made. I am referring to players who have been with us for years and established the basis, Motaung said.
