Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun Appoints New Rector for Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY)

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed Dr. Adeoye Adedeji as the official rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.

In December 2019, Abiodun named Odedeji as the MAPOLY Acting Rector.

After his appointment, the State Ministry of Education published an advertisement seeking qualified individuals to fill the role of Rector at the polytechnic.

All applicants, including Odedeji, were thoroughly screened by the State Government.

As many lobbied hard to remove Odedeji from the race months later, the administration was hesitant to announce its decision regarding the conclusion of the interview.

However, the Governor accepted Odedeji’s candidacy as Rector of the esteemed Ogun Polytechnic in a letter signed by Mrs. Olaseni Abosede Ogunleye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

“I have the directive of the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology to inform you that the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, in the exercise of his power as the Visitor to the Polytechnic, has approved your appointment as the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta,” the letter states.

According to MAPOLY spokesperson Yemi Ajibola, Odedeji was born on January 14, 1963, in Igan-Alade, Ketu Constituency, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

He started out at the polytechnic as a Lecturer II in 1996 and rose through the ranks to become Chief Lecturer in 2015.

Odedeji graduated from the University of Ife, which is now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, in Ile-Ife, with a BSc. (Hons) Sociology & Anthropology (1987) and an M.Sc. Sociology & Anthropology (1989). (1989).

He earned his doctorate in Rural Sociology (agriculture extension and rural development) from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in 2014.
