Abayomi Arigbabu, the state’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, made the news during a visit to Abeokuta Girls Grammar School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta.
This is part of a plan to reduce misconduct in schools, according to Arigbabu.
He went on to add that in order for the approach to work, private schools were advised not to admit any pupils who had been expelled from a government school.
He remarked, “As a government, we are concerned about student absenteeism in schools.” This, too, we believe, is a part of the behavior we abhor.
“We have therefore ensured digitalisation of names of our learners.
This will make it impossible for anyone that does not record 70 per cent attendance to sit for any examination.”
