Officer instructs gender-critical women to leave Cardiff Pride march

Police withdrew lesbians from a pride march in Cardiff when a transgender group and their supporters “crashed” the event, with an officer urging gender-critical women to move aside.

A lesbian activist organisation called Get The L Out UK that “stands against… transgenderism” posted a video from yesterday’s Cardiff Pride celebration.

During the LGBT+ march, a lesbian and a transgender lady can be heard yelling at one another in the video.

Pride Cymru acknowledged that the lesbian activists had “interrupted” the march and were not officially part of the procession.

According to the ladies, their group is “creating friction amongst various groups of individuals,” the police officer can be heard telling them.

The group was carrying signs that said, “Lesbians don’t like penises” and “Transactivism erases lesbians.”

He said in the video that “this group of individuals is now provoking conflict amongst other groups of people”

Then, women can be heard saying, “We’re lesbians, it’s Cardiff Pride,” in response.

Whatever you are doing right now, the police officer responds, “is provoking conflict.”

He continues, “We’re going to take you off the road to make sure you’re safe.”

I want to make sure that I realise that you’re excluding lesbians from an LGBT march, a lady responds.

Yes, that is what is occurring, the officer says, “for safety, for your safety, for other people’s safety – that’s why I’m doing it.”

You should be able to defend lesbians in a pride march, the lady responds.

The officer continues, “We may discuss other reasons why, by the side of the road, because else you will be taken off the road.”

Given that Get The L Out UK was not a registered participant in the march and had so “crashed” the event, the video has prompted an online debate concerning the decision.

One Twitter user wrote: “The cops should march with them and defend them if they require protection for their own safety.”

‘Lesbians. in peril. at a Pride parade. Instead of dealing with the people who are threatening, the cops advise *them* to go.

What has Pride turned into? What have cops evolved into? Another commented, “I can scarcely believe what I’m witnessing.”

But someone another questioned: “Why attend an LGBT event if you want to ‘get the L out’?”

“Most lesbians and women applauded when you were transferred.” You don’t reflect what they think is best. A third individual said, “You came just as an anti-trans group.”

Another person said, “Removing homophobes and transphobes from Pride is excellent.” Even if they identify as LGBT, homophobes and transphobes are not permitted at the Pride celebrations since they constitute a form of protest.

“Today’s Pride Cymru procession was all about celebration and LGBTQ+ rights,” stated Gian Molinu, chair of the organisation.

Despite a tiny handful of persons trying to stop the march, the neighbourhood and onlookers’ cries of support overwhelmed them. Hatred has no place at Pride.

Additionally, as our procession shouted out today, “Trans rights are human rights.”
