NYC mourners gathered around 5:30 am to see the Queen’s burial

Monday at 5.30 am, mourners flocked to British bars and eateries in the Big Apple to watch news of Queen Elizabeth II’s burial.

Following Her Majesty’s passing, there was a tremendous outpouring of sadness, with thousands of distraught mourners assembling outside Buckingham Palace and in several other cities across the world.

Despite the five-hour time difference with the UK, The Churchill in Midtown, New York City, opened its doors early to enable patrons to see the monarch’s death.

Americans and Brits gathered to drink beers and eat a fry-up while seeing the momentous event in person.

The English eatery Tea & Sympathy installed large screens outside so that customers could enjoy their customary tea and cake while watching the events unfold on BBC.

On Monday morning, the eateries were surrounded by Union Jack bunting and a cutout of the Queen.

When Jean Sharroff reserved a portion of the bar to hold a brunch for her friends to attend the burial, she donned an all-black ensemble with a matching hat.

Tea and Sympathy mourners shed tears as they saw the monarch’s last journey to Windsor Castle.

The Churchill in Midtown, New York City, offered patrons a complete English fry-up and a Beefeater gin martini.

A solemn crowd of mourners saw the last procession of the Queen’s coffin to Windsor Castle.

Following the placement of floral tributes to the queen when she died away last week, dozens of people rushed to the English-run restaurants and pubs to pay their respects.

For those that travelled early in the morning, there was classic china tea, cake, and sandwiches, as well as fish & chips and English breakfast fare.

‘I’m here because it signifies home. It’s a place to gather with like-minded people to commemorate the queen and her life and to look ahead with optimism,’ Mary Kallen told DailyMail.com.

She was the only queen I ever knew, and I grew up with her. She stood for constancy since she was always there, and I believe she represented morals, decency, and being above the fight.

“Despite all that has occurred in her family, she was a wonderful example of civility.” Although it was a wonderful state event, I thought that the funeral was actually more of an intimate family gathering.

Churchill’s patrons came to watch the parade on the screens positioned all throughout the establishment, which is decorated with artefacts honouring the Queen and Winston Churchill.

They ate English fry-ups with baked beans, tomato, bacon, and egg as well as Beefeater gin martinis.

The Beefeater statue outside the bar was accompanied by a placard that said, “Rest in Peace Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, 1926 until 2022.”

Additionally, they replaced the flag produced for the Queen’s Jubilee that had been the centre of attention when her passing was revealed with the royal arms of England banner.

Former British resident and Stoke-on-Trent pub owner Scott Robertson previously said that the establishment wanted to do something for the Queen and had pleasant recollections of Her Majesty.

He said, “We all want to gather together and have a pint,” which is “what Brits do” when anything unfortunate occurs.

Her picture was featured on the Nasdaq billboard and ABC’s live coverage of the event was also shown on a digital billboard in Times Square.

Aside from the empire state building in New York, other famous buildings across the globe were also illuminated to commemorate the monarch’s passing last week at the age of 96.

A live broadcast of the funeral was available in several US media, revealing how the Royal family came together to pay their last respects to the Queen.

Many churchgoers arrived up to three hours early for the ceremony, including President Joe Biden and his wife Jill, who went to pay their respects.

Millions of viewers watched Her Majesty’s farewell voyage as many lined the streets of London to pay their respects.

The majority of the VIPs travelled by coach, gathering at the Royal Hospital Chelsea before boarding a bus to Central London.

Nadham Zahawi, Ben Wallace, and Jacob Rees-Mogg were among the first visitors, along with other former and current British officials. However, US Vice President Jo Biden arrived at the Abbey in The Beast, also known as his bomb-proof vehicle.

Tom Parker Bowles, the son of the Queen Consort, Camilla, came for the ceremony two hours after his mother and father, Michael and Carole Middleton, who are the parents of Kate, the Princess of Wales.

Despite their tight ties to the Royal Family, they were on a bus together as well. TV personality Bear Grylls is among the famous attendees at the burial.

Myrtle, a traditional element of royal bouquets, was utilized in the funeral flowers at the abbey.

Asian lilies, gladioli, alstroemeria, Eustoma, and leaves from English oak, weeping birch, and myrtle sprigs were among the enormous white and green displays of blossoms.
