Lucy Letby, a nurse accused of murdering babies, has testified that she never harmed any children.

The allegations against her include the murder of five boys and two girls, and the attempted murder of another five boys and five girls, all of whom were under her care in the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.

Letby’s Testimony:

Seven months into her trial at Manchester Crown Court, Letby, who is now 33, entered the witness box on Tuesday to give evidence.

Letby, who was wearing a black top and black trousers, said she had cared for “hundreds” of babies during the period in question.

She also said she had never wanted to harm any of them, stating that such behavior was “completely against being what a nurse is.”

Letby’s barrister, Ben Myers KC, asked her how she felt about being accused of killing babies and having her job taken away.
