Novak Djokovic’s Australian Open triumph propels him to No. 1 in the globe

After claiming his 22nd Grand Slam championship at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic recovered the top spot in the ATP rankings, which were revealed on Monday.

The 35-year-old Serb climbed four positions to displace Carlos Alcaraz, who missed the tournament due to injury and fell to second.

Since July 2011, Djokovic’s 10th Australian Open victory places him at the top of the rankings for the 374th consecutive week.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, who lost in straight sets to Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s final in Melbourne, surpassed Norwegian Casper Ruud in third position, matching a career-high ranking he first attained in August 2021.

Andrey Rublev of Russia, who was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals, reached a career-high ranking of fifth.

The shocking defeat of Djokovic’s longtime adversary Rafael Nadal in the second round caused the Spaniard to fall from second to sixth place.

Karen Khachanov’s run to the semifinals in Melbourne increased the Russian’s ranking by seven spots to thirteenth.

Tommy Paul of the United States, who also made it to the final four, entered the top 20 for the first time by climbing 16 spots to 19th.
