A businessman is fortunate to be alive after he came within metres of a massive crocodile while attempting to take a photo with it on the side of the road.
Last Tuesday, Kane Marcus was traveling to work when he spotted the crocodile near Gunbalanya in the Northern Territory.
Marcus exited his truck in order to take a photograph with the hazardous animal standing few meters away.
His companion driving following him and filming the encounter captured the crocodile lunging at Mr. Marcus, causing the terrified businessman to retreat.
Mr. Marcus continues to video the animal angrily on his smartphone as it switches direction and bites through his trailer’s tire.
The friend comments off-camera, “Brus, that is wicked.”
Mr. Marcus climbs into the little truck’s bed and follows the crocodile as it walks behind the vehicle.
He stands precariously over the edge to take a picture on his phone, with just the length of the rusting trailer protecting him.
Mr. Marcus and his companion were able to photograph the crocodile as it stood stationary on the opposite side of the road.
The footage of the near encounter serves as a reminder of the deadly nature of the creatures and the warning to avoid approaching them.

The extraordinary scene was captured on camera at the Goat Island lodge in the Northern Territory, with Kai Hansen refusing to retreat from the 2.5-meter-long lizard that was charging him.

It is estimated that there are over 100,000 full-sized crocodiles in the wild in Australia, with the greatest population located in the Northern Territory.
Male crocodiles can grow to a stunning 3,3 meters in length, while females can reach a maximum of 2.3 meters.
The bite force of a crocodile is around 3,700 pounds per square inch (PSI).
PSI stands for ‘pounds per square inch’ and is a unit of measurement used to quantify the bite force of animals.
