Nollywood actress Ini Edo recently opened up about her failed marriage and the reasons behind her decision to opt for surrogacy.
In 2008, Ini Edo tied the knot with Philip Ehiagwina, a businessman from Edo.
However, their marriage came to an end in 2014.
During an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ini Edo expressed her regret over getting married, realizing that it wasn’t the right choice for her.
Despite this setback, Ini Edo remains optimistic about finding the right person and getting married again when the time is right.
Choosing Surrogacy: Overcoming Miscarriages and the Desire for a Child
When discussing her choice of surrogacy, Ini Edo revealed that she had experienced several miscarriages, which led her to give up on the idea of carrying a child herself.
Since she didn’t have a husband at the time, she decided to pursue surrogacy as a means to fulfill her longing for a child.
She explained, “I chose surrogacy because I had a couple of miscarriages and I got tired of trying and I didn’t want to try.
Since I don’t have a husband, I wanted a child for myself, so the egg was mine.”
Regretting the Past and Welcoming Future Possibilities
When asked if she regretted her failed marriage, Ini Edo admitted, “Yes, I regret it because it wasn’t the right move to make.
I will get married again if the right person comes at my own time.”
Despite the pain of her past, she remains open to the possibility of finding love and experiencing the joy of marriage once more, emphasizing the importance of timing and finding the right partner.
The Surrogacy Journey: A Mother’s Love
In 2021, Ini Edo shared the news of her baby, whom she welcomed through surrogacy.
Speaking in an interview with Stella Dimoko Korkus, she confirmed that the eggs used in the process were her own, making the baby genetically related to her.
However, she chose not to disclose the sperm donor, prioritizing her child’s privacy and well-being.
