It comes after he earned the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award last year and had his membership suspended ‘until further notice’ after 20 women alleged sexual harassment and abuse to The Guardian.

Clarke disputed all charges, and the Met opted not to open a criminal investigation last month, ruling that the allegations did not “meet the standard” for a criminal investigation.

Noel Clarke, an actor and producer, has withdrawn his legal action against Bafta, the academy has said.

A Bafta spokeswoman issued the following statement: ‘We are aware that Noel Clarke has withdrawn his lawsuit against Bafta.

“The serious wrongdoing described in first-hand accounts and reported in The Guardian is inconsistent with the standards expected of a Bafta member and the values we promote as an arts foundation and academy.

We stand by our decision to suspend his membership and honorary award as soon as the allegations were made public.
