Fajuyi was charged with sexually assaulting and impregnating his own daughter.

In 2019, when his daughter was still a secondary school student, the 47-year-old officer took advantage of her innocence, culminating in a pregnancy.

The details revealed in the police report are chilling: Fajuyi threatened his daughter with death if she dared to reveal the incident to anyone.

The Harrowing Journey to Justice

Court documents identified as SMC/MN, CR/06/2023 disclosed that the crime took place in the Ungwan Nasarawa area of Tafa Local Government.

Fajuyi lured his daughter, who was then a student at the Government Day Secondary School Sabon-Wuse, into his room and committed the atrocious act.

It was also unveiled that Fajuyi had added murder to his list of heinous acts.

Upon the birth of the baby, he took the newborn’s life just days after its birth.

During police investigations, Fajuyi confessed to his horrifying deeds, as stated by the police prosecutor, Inspector Lawrence Owette.

Charges and Verdict

The grave nature of Fajuyi’s actions violated multiple legal statutes.

He was found to have contravened Section 18 (2) of the Niger State Child Right Law 2010, Section 390 25 (3), and 397 B of the penal code.

Despite his admission of guilt, the court insisted on a thorough examination of the case due to the severity of the crimes.

The prosecutor was therefore directed to substantiate his case with witnesses and evidence to ensure that the maximum punishment could be levied.

Testimonies from the victim and her mother indicated that the sexual abuse began when the girl was just 12 years old and resulted in a pregnancy at age 13.

Senior Magistrate Christy Barau, who presided over the case, branded Fajuyi as a “monster”.

He was supposed to be the protector of his daughter, instead, he prematurely forced her into womanhood.

Consequently, Fajuyi received a sentence of 22 years in the Minna Correctional Centre, without the option of a fine, and the sentence is to run concurrently.
