Nicolae Miu, 52, appears in court for the death of a 17-year-old boy he stabbed

Today, an engineer is scheduled to appear in court on charges that he fatally stabbed a 17-year-old boy and four other people while tubing down Wisconsin’s Apple River.

Before being confronted by Rhyley Mattison, 24, and a group of her friends, Nicolae Miu, 52, was reportedly acting “strangely” toward a group of young boys.

Engineer Miu stabbed Rhyley and three of her friends in a frenzied knife attack, critically wounding them.

They approached him after seeing him talking to a group of young people who appeared uncomfortable because Miu was reportedly asking them for the phone numbers of “young girls.”

Additionally, he attacked a 17-year-old boy from Stillwater, Minnesota, who was taken to the hospital but later died.

Despite not having been formally charged, the St. Croix Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Miu, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, will show up in court today.

Three of Rhyley’s friends, ages 20, 22, and 22, who are from Minnesota, were also transported to the hospital, she said, with one of them having been cut “from the bellybutton up.”

Rhyley claimed in an interview with DailyMail.com: “I was tubing down the river with several pals when a couple of them indicated that we needed to halt because there were a bunch of kids who looked uneasy.

We stopped using our tubes since they were accompanied by an older man.

A number of my girlfriends and I followed the guys over to see what was happening.

They explained that the older man had asked the younger guys if they knew any younger women or could provide him with their phone numbers. It was spooky.

I can’t really recall if he was addressed by anyone or what was said, but he then hit my friend in the face.

I’m not sure if I said something to aggravate him further at that point, but I do recall him turning to look at me and placing his hand at my tummy.

He appeared to be about to punch me. I told my pal, “Oh my gosh, that hurt,” and I believe he punched me.

I saw that I was bleeding profusely from where he had stabbed me.

After that, all I can think of is us trying to flee. Because we were close to the bridge and they were helping me hold pressure on my tummy to ensure everyone else’s safety, a group of unrelated individuals tried to shove me into the river.

“Isaac, a teenager, died after being stabbed along with three of my other friends. We only knew that he passed away; we didn’t know him.

I was the first one stabbed, and my other companion suffered cuts going up from the abdominal button. My lung has been pierced.

To repair my diaphragm, the surgeons had to cut up my stomach, and I was sewed up. I take a lot of painkillers.

“I think he had the knife in his fingers,” the victim cried out as she shouted for help and dialled 911.

It didn’t appear like he was tubing; instead, he was by himself. He was merely moving about strangely.

The problem for me is that I recently relocated to the same neighbourhood as him, and it’s awful.

To assist her recuperate from her injuries, Rhyley put up a GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised more than $1,200.

Miu will be in St. Croix County Circuit Court at 1pm. A charge of first-degree homicide, which carries a life term in prison in Wisconsin if found guilty, is being suggested against her.

Additionally, four counts of mayhem and four counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon with intent to do grave bodily injury are being suggested against him.

The attack’s motivation is yet unknown, and police are attempting to speak with anyone who was river tubing at the time.

While Isaac was sent to Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, Minnesota, where he was later declared dead, Rhyley and her three friends were brought immediately to Regions Hospital.

Miu was situated in the Village Park, 110 River Street, Somerset, Wisconsin, which served as the Apple River tubers’ egress point.

Law enforcement was informed of the suspect’s whereabouts by several witnesses, and he was taken into custody without a hitch.

The Apple River has long been a favourite summertime vacation spot for citizens of the Twin Cities.

A member of what the St. Croix County sheriffs believe to be another tubing group of six to eight people attacked them at around 3:45 p.m.

Sheriff Scott Knudson called the situation “chaotic and frightening,” and he added, “I’m sure anyone who saw this will never forget it.” This is tragic.

We don’t yet know who was associated with who, who was familiar with one another, or what caused it.

‘I don’t know what to make of it; it’s been a while since there was a stabbing. I just have no idea.
