During his acceptance speech, Akpabio emphasized that the 10th assembly would proactively endorse the policies and initiatives put forth by President Tinubu.

Akpabio specifically commended President Tinubu’s boldness in addressing the contentious issue of petrol subsidy.

Despite receiving the endorsement of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpabio emphasized the Senate’s commitment to maintaining its independence and not merely acting as a rubber stamp for the executive branch.

He highlighted the legislature’s autonomy and pledged that the 10th assembly would serve the interests of Nigeria and its citizens.

Akpabio concluded his speech by affirming that while working closely with the executive arm of government, the Senate would safeguard its legislative independence.

He reiterated that the primary focus of the 10th assembly is the welfare and advancement of Nigeria and its people.
