NASA’s asteroid-smashing gadget might save life

People all across the globe celebrated last week when NASA successfully crashed a satellite into an asteroid, showing that mankind may still be able to survive if a large space rock comes for earth.

But if a world-destroying asteroid the size of the six-mile-wide one that killed out the dinosaurs is going to strike our planet, would it really work? How much in advance will NASA scientists require? Will they also need nuclear weapons?
